<br />APPEAL 192 JOHNSON VAR. 67-48 Hearing was opened on Appeal 192,
<br /> filed by Jeh~ C. Johnson from the
<br /> Planning Commission's denial of
<br />Variance Application 67-~8 to construct a duplex on an R 1 lot at 1303
<br />S. Broadway. The Clerk reported notice of the hearing mailed to adjacent
<br />property owners on July 11, 1967, with certificate on file, and no com-
<br />municat ions received.
<br />
<br />The applicant presented a petition in favor of the duplex, signed by all
<br />the residents on the west side of the block and all the residents except
<br />two on the east side of the block. 0n motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded
<br />by Councilman Markel and carried, the petition was ordered filed. Mrs.
<br />William Doran, the buyer, and C. F. Loy, 1302 S. Broadway, spoke in favor
<br />of the duplex.

<br />Mr, Lonnie Von, 1309 S. Broadway, spoke in opposition. Senior pla, nor
<br />Steve Lafer said the Commission felt that it might be obvious spot rezoning,
<br />therefore, better to proceed on an analysis of the whole area for rezoning
<br />to R 2. There being no further testimony, the hearing was closed.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Carlson, seconded by Councilman Herrin, to over-
<br />rule the action of the Planning Co~-,ission and instruct the City Attorney to
<br />prepare a resolution granting Variance 67-~8 subject to the conditions set
<br />out in Staff Comments dated June 26, 1967. On roll call vote:
