It was moved by Councilman Thurman, seconded by CounciLman }terrin and carried, <br />that Council authorize execution of an agreement with the Federal Government <br />for the purchase of the property at the offered price of $95,250.00, and <br />authorize transfer of funds in this~ amount from Account ll-O00-911~to 5t~23t-611. <br /> <br />M~RTLE STREET TRUNK SEWER ~Q '~ The Director of Public Works reported on <br /> Council's request of June 5th to County <br /> Sanitation District One for construction <br />of two trunk lines and recommended that Council declare its intention to con- <br />vey to District One at no cost the existing M~rtle Street Trunk Sewer between <br />Center and Bristol in order to connect trunks and assure hydraulic continuity <br />of the system. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />that the Council approve recommendation~ and declare its intention to convey <br />to District One at no cost the existing Myrtle Street T~,nW Sewer. <br /> <br />8/1/67 recommending salary increases <br /> <br />Om motion of Councilman Carlson, seconded <br />by Councilman Herrin and carried, Council <br />approved the City Manager's report dated <br />for meritorious service. <br /> <br />PARTON STR~...'£ CLOSNlfG c~ ~ <br /> <br />Attorney's report on the closing of <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Thurman, seconded <br />by Councilman Herrin and carried, the <br />City Council approved and filed the City <br />Patton Street to vehicular traffic. <br /> <br />O'NEILL SIGN REQUEST :?' ': ~' Council discussed at length the staff <br /> report on the O'Neill request for a <br /> sign adjacent to the freeway on South <br />Main Street property which would require an amendment to Municipal Code <br />Section 8441. The Council expressed hesitancy at amending the Code re- <br />garding signs prior to completion of the Pl--~img Commission's study of <br />a new sign ordinance. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Thurm-,~, seconded by Councilman Carlson and <br />carried, that the Plamuing C~mmission be requested to complete its Study <br />of sign regulations which would apply to this request and forward it to the <br />City Council within ~0 days so that the applicant would not have to wait for <br />completion of the entire sign ordinance. <br /> <br />FREEWAY SIGNS c~ ~'% Mayor McMichael reported that a Freeway <br /> Ccmmittee has been appointed in accord- <br /> ance with the directions of the City <br />Councilat the last meeting to study the various requests for freeway signs and <br />attendanc freeway prablems within the City of Santa Aha and that the committee <br />would be reporting back to Council possibly at the next meeting. <br /> <br />SURPLUS PROPERTY REPORT 18-67 Om motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Carlson and carried, Council <br /> ordered filed report 18-67 regarding <br />surplus buildings on West 5th and' North Parton; declared the buildings surplus <br />and authorized their demolition. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 259 August 7, 1967 <br /> <br /> <br />
