After further discussion, it was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Council- <br />man Herrin and carried, that the Mayor be authorized to send a letter stating the <br />Council's position to the Orange County League of Cities, the League of California <br />Cities, and Santa Ana's state legislators. <br /> <br />E~LLY CLAIM ~~1~> Council concurred with the City Attorney's <br /> report, regarding claim of John D. Kel]J <br /> against the City and subsequent complaint <br />and summons~ that his office would be represented at trial to insure protection <br />of City in matters not covered by insurance, on motion of Councilman Herrin, <br />seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried. <br /> <br />ORD. ND-911 c!'% ~¥ <br /> ORDINANCE NS-911 AMENDING THE SANTA ANA <br />DOG LIC~SING AND VACCINATION MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND SECTIONS 4110., <br /> ~lll.2o, AND ~ll2. OF PART l, CHAPTER l, <br />ARTICLE IV TNW~EOF RELATING TO LICENSING AND VACCINATION REQUIREMEBTS OF DOGS <br />was introduced. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Carlson and carried, <br />further reading of Ordinance NS-911 was waived, and it was passed to second <br />reading. <br /> <br />The staff was instructed to furnish a report to the Council on enforcementand <br />control of loose dogs after a question by Councilman Markel. <br /> <br />BOWERS MUSEUM SIGN Councilman Brooks presented design of a <br /> proposed sign for the Bowers Museum, and <br />offered to prepare specifications for a sign in the cost range of $1500 to $2000. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Carlson, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, the <br />matter was referred to the Museum Board, and the Council expressed appreciation <br />to Councilman Brooks. <br /> <br />C0~94UNITY SENAR Mayor McMichael stated that Councilman <br /> Carlson had attended the last session of <br /> the Community Seminar at Irvine and that <br />another Councilman has been asked to attend the spring session. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Carlson and carried, <br />Councilman Walter Brooks was authorized to represent the Council at city expense, <br />and also any other Councilman who would like to attend. <br /> <br />GOVERNOR'S C0~'a~ENCE ~q ~ <br /> ~ On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded <br />by Councilman Brooks and carried, Mayor <br />McMichael was authorized to participate <br />in the Governor's Conference on Planning for Housing and Homeownership in <br />Sacramento, January 3l - February l, at city expense. <br /> <br />BUSH STRE~£ OFF-RAMP STOP SIGN The City Manager reported that the Council <br /> order to replace the stop sign on Bush Street <br /> at the off-ramp of the Freeway had not been <br />carried out because of the State Division of Highways. The Manager stated that <br />the staff is continuing to try to get approval of the State Division of Highways <br />to have the stop sign replaced and if not successful, will request further Council <br />action. <br /> <br />COUNTY FACILITY <br /> <br />Councilman Markel spoke in opposition to the <br />proposed County facility at Grand and McFadden. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 365 January 15, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
