NS-915 ORDINANCE NS-gl5 OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />RETIRemEnT CO~RACT OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING <br /> AN AMENDME~ TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE BOARD OF ADNINISTRATION OF THE CALIFOBNIA STATE <br />EMPLOYEES' ~Ii~l' SYSTEM was adopted on motion of Councilman Brooks, <br />seconded by Councilman Thurman on roll call vote~ <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Brooks, Carlson, Thurman, McMichael <br />Herrin, Markel <br />Griset <br /> <br />Mayor McMichael qualified his vote by stating that although he had voted <br />in. opposition when this matter was first presented, he saw no reason to <br />hold up action on the majority opinion of the City Council. <br /> <br />It w~s pointed out that the State Board of Retirement had indicated the <br />necessity for a two-thirds vote of the governing body. Assistant City <br />Attorney james Withers suggested that his office research the question <br />and if it is found that a two-thirds vote is required, the Council might <br />move to reconsider at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> ~? Application for Special License to Use <br />PUBLIC PROPERTY USE .<~ <br /> Public Property by the Zion Apostolic <br /> Assembly Friday evenings from 7:00 to <br />8:00 P.M. was approved by the City Council for the northeast or southeast <br />corner of Fourth and Bush on motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by <br />COUnC~lmRn Markel and carried. <br /> <br />Noting that the Municipal Code prohibits public speaking within a certain <br />downtown area, it w~s suggested by Councilman Markel that the staff check <br />into the date this code provision was passed and clarify whether or not <br />it is still necessary. <br /> <br />CT.~K'S ABSENCE ~,~ The request from the Clerk of the Council <br /> for permission to be absent from the <br /> meeting of May 20th to attend the Annual <br />Conference of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks was approved <br />on motion of Councilman Carlson, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried. <br /> <br />MAY 20th ~'ING q~ %~ <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herrin, seconded <br />by Councilman Brooks and carried, that <br />the City Council meet on May 20th only <br />at the 7:30 P.Mo session to allow attendance for Councilmen during the day <br />at the Mayors and Councilmen's Institute in Anaheim. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to <br /> come before the City Council, the <br /> meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PoM.~ <br />on motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by CounciLman B~ooks and carried. <br /> <br />Doris M.
