PROJECT C-16~ ~ %~ After hearing the Manager's Report that <br /> no bids had been received for installation <br /> of new electrical feed for City Hall and <br />wiring for Computer Ro~m~ it was moved by Councihrmn Brooks~ seconded by <br />Councilman Thurman and carried that the City Manager be authorized to negotiate <br />and contract with an electrical contractor for the installation of electrical <br />equipment in the City Hall in order that certain computer equipment due to be <br />installed June l, 1968, may be operative; this work is to be done in this <br />fashion because of an emergency created by the fact that no bids were received <br />for said work following advertisements therefor on 4-2-68 and ~-~-68 in the <br />Santa Ana Register; installation of the electrical equipment, at a cost <br />estimated to be some ~lO~O0~ is necessary to avoid a loss of public property <br />at the rate of $5~000 per month, being the rental on the Burroughs computing <br />equipment~ which rent will be charged under the existing contract whether <br />the machines are in operation or not; the rental will be a total loss unless~ <br />by installation of the ~ubject electrical equipment~ the machines may operate. <br /> <br />SEWER PROJECT S-52 ~ ~ On motion of Councilman Carlson, seconded <br /> by Councilman Herrin and carried, Council <br /> approved plans and specifications and <br />authorized bid call for sewer constr~ction in Poinsettia, Adams~ Cypress <br />and Grand~ opening 4/~0/68. <br /> <br />FIRST STREET CONSTRUCTION C~ ~' ~ Council considered plans for First <br /> Street Project 296, Birch to Bush and <br /> Project C-l~9, Hesperian to Baker. <br />Action was held over to the evening session at request of Councilman <br />Markel so he could review plans, on motion of Councilman Herrin~ seconded <br />by Councilman Carlson and carried. <br /> <br />At the end of the evening session, plans and specifications were approved <br />and authority to advertise granted for opening 5/14/68, on motion of <br />Councilman Brooks~ seconded by Councilman Herrin on roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin~ Brooks, Carlson, Thurman~ McMichael <br />Markel <br />Griset <br /> <br />A discussion by Councilman Markel prior to the motion centered around <br />difference between figures used in selecting north side for widening and <br />figures of actual purchases; his own figures which he maintains indicate <br />south side take less expensive; and expectation that the southwest corner <br />of First and Main would have been included by now. <br /> <br />(corrected <br /> <br />ANNUAL CONTRACTS C~ % ~\ ~ ~' ..... ~ On motion of Councilman Herrin~ seconded <br /> by Councilman Brooks and carried, bid <br /> calls were approved for: <br /> <br />Compound Water Meters ~ Spec. 631-11~ opening 5/15 <br />Domestic Water Meters ~ Spec. 631-113 opening 5/15 <br />Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings ~ Spec. 371-107 opening 5/14 <br />Butterfly Valves -D Spec. 631-112 opening 5/1~ <br />Gate V~lves 2D Spec. 631-111 opening 5/1~ <br />Asbestos Cement Pipe and iD <br />Cast Iron Fittings Spec. 371-109 opening 5/1~ <br />Fire Hydrants ~ Spec. 631-110 opening 5/13 <br />Gasoline G Spec. 381-102 opening 5/13 <br />Joint Sealer G Spec. 371-110 opening 5~13 <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL 41y April 15, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
