The increasing cultural diversity within the healthcare workforce, as well as patients, requires recognition of
the unique differences and commonalities each person brings to the work environment. The healthcare
workforce in America and California is comprised of individuals of various educational levels; with a value
set that may be limited by culture, race, religion, or gender. Although reflective of society, the inherent
scope of issues behooves not only employers, but educators as well. In addition, we will be using union
members to conduct Job Shadowing/Coaching during participant's OJT phase, and assign a Mentor for
support and tutoring assistance from the following participating unions: SEIU, CNA, and Union Nurses
Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professional (UNAC).
