City of Santa Aha ~nd WIB - RFP for Welfare-to-Work
Participants for Apprenticeship and Affiliated Training Program
In collaboration with the above local health care service agencies, our partnership has identified additional
health care f~cjlities that are in need of trained Certified Nurses Assistants and career levels of employees. Our.
training project is needed in an industry with occupations having demonstrated career advancement
opportunitie,?, high turnover rates, and a large number of undereducated lower-wage paying/tiered positions on'
a career rich iadder of vast opportunities as our population ages.
Location where the Pre-Apprenticeship Training will be Delivered - KP locations in Anaheim and Santa
Ana, Anaheim General Hospital, Tenet Hospitals in Santa Ana, and CHOC. Additionally, SEIU Local 434b
has Collective Bargaining Agreements many health care facilities throughout the Los Angeles and Orange
County areas.

Indicate areas of specialization and include references - Not Applicable.

Provide proof of registered apprenticeship program - Not Applicable.
Include three letters of recommendation - Attached are three letters of recommendation from SEIU
434b, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Robert E. Kennedy Hospital/Daughters of Charity.
Our collaborative partnership ',,~ili train 75 CNAs and plan to [~pgrade the skills of 254 individuals who work in
the health care field as Iow-wage orderlies, nursing assistants, clerks, personal and home care aide, and
attendants.

In Conclusion - Our partnership acknowledges that some health care facilities will not have the exact same
job titles as we have detailed within this proposal, but they have progressive job status scales along with
incremental wage increases that are based on skills. This program will train new hires for the fast growing
health care industry, and then upgrade the skills of those current, incumbent Iow-wage earning workers to help
them move up the career ladder within their health care facility's individual employment structure.
