RETIREMENT C0~I'RACT {~ V.~\. The City Attorney reported his opinion <br /> that O~DINANCE N~-915 OF THE CITY C(YoT~IL <br /> OF T~E CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING AN <br />AMEND~£ TO THE C0m'TaACT ~ THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION <br />OF T~u~ CALIFOP~NIA STATE EMPLOYEES' BETIR~NT SYSTEM, adopted by less than two- <br />thirds vote at the April 15th Council meeting, was not validly adopted, since <br />the Code section involved is specific and states that approval of the contract <br />shall be by ordinance approved by two-thirds of the members of the governing <br />body. The Attorney further stated that he was of the opinion that if Council <br />should reconsider, it should obtain a two-thirds vote for the first reading <br />as well as adoption. <br /> <br />It was moved by Co%uucilman B~ooks, seconded by Councilman Thurman and carried, <br />to reconsider Ordinance NS-915 and have it placed on the agenda at the May 20th <br />meet lng. <br /> <br />SANTA ANA RO~M ~ <br /> <br />Council discussed means of decoration <br />of the Santa And Roc~ in the Anaheim <br />Convention Center. : <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman B~ooks, seconded by Councilman Griset and;carried, <br />that the Bowers Museum Board be requested to appoint a cnmmittee, perhaps <br />with members from the Foundation, Torana Art League and Historical Society, <br />to develop an appropriate decoration for the Santa Aha Room in the Anaheim: <br />Convention Center, and that they consider an appropriate means of financing <br />the decoration. <br /> <br />STATE LEGISLATION Council considered League of California <br /> Cities Legislative Bulletin, dated <br /> April 25, 1968, regarding proposed~ <br />State legislation. <br /> <br />On motion of Couacilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Griset and carried, <br />the staff was instructed to write a letter to the appropriate State representatives, <br />going on record that the Santa And City Council is in favor of S.B. 513 regarding <br />Prevailing Wage Rates on Public Works projects, I <br /> <br />LIBRARY BOARD C~ ~b The resignation of Lecil J; Slahack as <br /> a member of the Library Board w~s accepted <br /> with regret, and it was requested that he <br />continue to serveuntil a successor, is named; also, it was directed that an <br />expression of appreciation be prepared, on motion of Councilman Marke'l, seconded <br />by Councilman Herrinand carried. <br /> <br />On motion of Counc~]m-n Herrin, se~omded by Councilman Brooks, and carried, <br />a letter of apPlicatiOn:for the Library Board submitted to the Clerk of the <br />Couacil by Couacllman Brooks, was accepted. <br /> <br />crrz cot~czL ~35 ~ 6, '1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
