Nayor ~4cNichael and City Nanager Thornton arrived at the Council meeting at <br />3. OPoM. <br /> <br />FEDERAL BUILDING Mayor Mc~4ichael reported that he and <br /> the City Manager had attended the Civic <br /> Center Commission meeting and had made <br />a formal presentation to the Ccmmission to release the 90~000 square feet <br />for the Federal Building° He also stated that the Federal government will <br />probably seek an additional 60,000 feet for parking, which would be an outright <br />purchase by the Federal government outside the present Civic Center area. <br /> <br />RETIRE~IENT CONTRACT Since Councilman Thurman could not be <br /> present at the evening session of the <br /> Council meeting when adoption of <br />Ordinance NS-918 regarding amendment to the retirement contract was to <br />be considered, which requires a two-thirds majority vote of Council for <br />adoption, it was moved by Councilman Thurman, seconded by Councilm~n Brooks <br />and carried, to consider Agenda Item 70 as the last item of business at the <br />afternoon session~ <br /> <br />PARCEL NAP 554 <br /> <br />Clara, west of the Newport Freeway° <br /> <br />Council considered Parcel Map 554, <br />filed by John To Kimbrell, creating <br />4 parcels on the north side of Santa <br /> <br />Norm~u Smedegaard, attorney representing Sherwood Home Owners Association; <br />Clark Bonner, 4250 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach; and Charles Flanagan, <br />2304 East Buffalo, spoke, requesting Council not to approve the extension <br />of Pasadena Street~ as set out in Condition h h in Planning Director's report <br />dated May 28, 1968, but to have it terminate as a cul-de-saco <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Rerrin, Parcel Nap <br />554 was approved subject to conditions in Planning Director's report dated <br />Nay 28, 1968, with modification of Condition 4 h to incorporate the second <br />sentence as condition for this approval which would grant the establishment <br />of a cul-de-sac for Pasadena Street, not to exceed 500 feet in length; and <br />alley requirement waived° On roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Carlson, Griset, Narkel, Thurman, McNichael <br />Brooks <br />None <br /> <br />CALIFORNIA WATER Henry D.
