CLAIM FOR DAMAGES ~%t The City Attorney's report recommending denial of One Millio~ Dollar claim filed by William A. Risse regarding bowling alley property at 429 West Fifth Street was considered. The claim was rejected, on motion of Councilman Thurman, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried. SURPLUS PROPERTY c~*( After considering Surplus Property Reports 14-68 through 21-68 regarding surplus buildiugs on property acquired for Fourth te Sixth Diagonal, Council declared the buildings surplus and authorized their demolition, on motion ef Councilman Griset, seconded by C~mcilman Herrin and carried. ABSENCE ~ ~ ~ from the August 19th Council meeting. On motion of Councilwmn Herrin, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried, Councilman Thurman was granted permission to be absent HARBOR DISTRICT ~~v~ After s~me discussion regarding the position the City of Santa A~a intends to take concerning dissolmtian ef the 0range Co~aty Harbor District, it was agreed that the City Council supports the current position of the League of California Cities, Orange County Division, regarding dissolution of the Harbor District, and Councilman Markel was requested to keep Council informed of any changes so that he could express the intent of Council on any vote taken.
