CIVIC CENTER AUTHORITY The City Council considered the request from <br /> the Civic Center Commission regarding <br /> parking within the Civic Center and the request <br />that two Council members be appointed to meet with the Commission members and <br />the Board of Supervisors to determine the powers of the Civic Center Commission. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />Council authorized formation of a committee of two representatives from the City <br />Council and directed that they uphold the rights of our City. Councilman Markel <br />stated he would like the Council representatives to suggest consideration of high <br />rise parking. Mayor McMichael appointed the Council Committee, as requested <br />by the Civic Center Commission, consisting of Vice Mayor Herrin and himself. <br /> <br />STREET CLOSING The request from the Downtown Santa Ana <br /> A~ssociation to close off traffic on Sycamore <br /> from the alley between Third and Fourth <br />Streets to Fourth Street, 6:00 to 10:00 P. R.C. Development <br /> Corp., creating 3 lots at the northwest corner <br /> of' Sunflower and Flower, was approved <br />subject to conditions in Planning Director's report dated November 14, 1968, <br />and alley requirement was waived, on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded <br />by Councilman Herrin and carried. <br /> <br />Due to a conflict of interest, Councilman Thurman left the Council Chamber before <br />discussion of the next item. <br /> <br />TOWING SERVICES <br /> <br />sentence in Item n. on Page 4 of the proposed requirements be changed to read that <br />"One of the tow trucks shall be twin-boomed." <br /> <br />Commenting on the proposed regulations were the following: Bill Rush, owner of <br />Santa Aha Towing; Ben Warner, of Ben Warner's Garage; and James Thompson, <br /> <br />The Manager's report on proposed regulations <br />for police towing list was considered by Council. <br />The City Manager recommended that the second <br /> <br />CITY.COUNCIL 62 November 18, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
