VlBROSEIS SURVEY Council considered the request from <br /> Standard Oil Company of California to <br /> conduct a Vibroseis survey within city <br />limits of Santa Arm along Main and along Warner. The City Manager rec- <br />commended that the request be denied in accordance with Municipal Code <br />Section 9246. F. P. Gulen, Representative for Standard Oil Company, explained <br />that they would not be drilling, they would be making a substructural mapping. <br />At the request of Council, the City Attorney read aloud Section 9246 and stated <br />his opinion that as the ordinance now reads, it would be improper to grant the <br />request. <br /> <br />Councilman Markel made a motion to grant the request, which motion was lo'St <br />for lack of a second. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Griset, to deny <br />the request. The motion was adopted on roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Brooks, Carlson, Griset, McMichael <br />Markel <br />Thurman <br /> <br />Councilmen Brooks and Griset suggested the ordinance should be amended to <br />allow this type of survey. <br /> <br />AIRPORT LAND USE The Resolution of the Board of Super- <br />COMMISSION visors requesting a determination in <br /> regard to the Airport Land Use Com- <br />mission from cities of Orange County was considered by Council. At the <br />request of Councilman Markel, James Gilmore, member of the Airport <br />Commission, who was present in the audience, commented the Cominission <br />felt there was no need for the Land Use Commission but had no objection <br />to it. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Griset and carried, <br />the Board of Supervisors Resolution was ordered filed. <br /> <br />HIGHWAY PROJECTS The Costa Mesa Resolution opposing <br /> the proposed cutback in the use of <br /> highway trust funds for highway projects <br />was ordered filed, on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman <br />Herrin and carried. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />72 <br /> <br />December 2, 1968 <br /> <br /> <br />
