COMMENTS 90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS Dave Lopez addressed Council relative to concerns about the construction and installation of a Little Saigon Business District monument sign. Kim Gerda addressed the Council relative to concerns about the French Park traffic barriers and the danger they pose to the students at Davis Elementary School. Andrea Cozby addressed the Council and expressed concerns related to the proposed route of the Centerline project and potential impacts on the Washington Square Neighborhood. 90.6. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilmember Garcia • Thanked the Police Department, and the Riverview West Association and all those involved in the reopening of the Westend Police substation on November 1, 2003 • Announced that the U.S. Tennis Association is sponsoring demonstrations on Friday, November 7, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at Sandpointe Park and on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Portola Park at 2:00 p.m. Councilmember Solorio • Thanked the Police Department and everyone involved with the grand reopening of the Westend Police Substation • Reported that he Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana held their annual Castle of Dreams event on Saturday, November 1, 2003 and it was a very successful fundraiser • Congratulated Councilmember Christy for her involvement at Planetarium VIP day on October 25, 2003 at the Tessmann Planetarium Councilmember Christy • Commented that she also attended the Boys and Girls Club event at Joe's Garage in Tustin and applauded John and Cindy Brewster for their active involvement in the Boys and Girls Club • Noted that the Westend substation reopening was a very successful event and that the substation makes a difference in community relations • Congratulated Corporal Eric Rimat for his involvement as President of the Orange County Police Canine Association in the Annual Police Canine Benefit Show at Eddie West Stadium on Sunday, November 2, 2003 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 362 NOVEMBER 3, 2003
