PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Dave Lopez addressed Council relative to concerns about the construction <br />and installation of a Little Saigon Business District monument sign. <br />Kim Gerda addressed the Council relative to concerns about the French <br />Park traffic barriers and the danger they pose to the students at Davis <br />Elementary School. <br />Andrea Cozby addressed the Council and expressed concerns related to <br />the proposed route of the Centerline project and potential impacts on the <br />Washington Square Neighborhood. <br />90.6. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Garcia <br />• Thanked the Police Department, and the Riverview West <br />Association and all those involved in the reopening of the Westend <br />Police substation on November 1, 2003 <br />• Announced that the U.S. Tennis Association is sponsoring <br />demonstrations on Friday, November 7, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at <br />Sandpointe Park and on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Portola Park <br />at 2:00 p.m. <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />• Thanked the Police Department and everyone involved with the <br />grand reopening of the Westend Police Substation <br />• Reported that he Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana held their <br />annual Castle of Dreams event on Saturday, November 1, 2003 <br />and it was a very successful fundraiser <br />• Congratulated Councilmember Christy for her involvement at <br />Planetarium VIP day on October 25, 2003 at the Tessmann <br />Planetarium <br />Councilmember Christy <br />• Commented that she also attended the Boys and Girls Club event <br />at Joe's Garage in Tustin and applauded John and Cindy Brewster <br />for their active involvement in the Boys and Girls Club <br />• Noted that the Westend substation reopening was a very <br />successful event and that the substation makes a difference in <br />community relations <br />• Congratulated Corporal Eric Rimat for his involvement as President <br />of the Orange County Police Canine Association in the Annual <br />Police Canine Benefit Show at Eddie West Stadium on Sunday, <br />November 2, 2003 <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 362 NOVEMBER 3, 2003 <br />
