REIMBURSEMENT On motion of Councilman Patterson, <br /> seconded by Councilman Markel and <br /> carried, Council approved reimbursement <br />to Pacific Investments the amount of $6,189.76 for street improvements on the <br />west side of Glassell Avenue from 800 feet north of Santa Clara Avenue to <br />ultimate width in exchange for dedication of ultimate street right of way 50 feet <br />on G1assell Avenue. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Bruce Spragg reported that the City had received a <br />check in the amount of $3,645.95 as part of the settlement in the price fixing <br />suit against American Pipe Company. <br /> <br />Councilman Markel stated he would like to bring in a written statement to be <br />added to the May 5th Minutes. It was determined by the Council that if Council- <br />man Markel wished to do this, the Council wo~ld certainly consider it. Council- <br />man Markel also remarked that Council should discuss lookin8 into the matter <br />of having the meetings taped. <br /> <br />Councilman Patterson asked if the City could consider some type of ordinance <br />that would require auto salvage yards to be screened. It was explained by the <br />Ptanning Director that the previous Council had requested this, that an ordinance <br />had been drafted, and that a report was being prepared for presentation to the <br />Planning Commission and to the City Council. <br /> <br />Councilman Patterson suggested that, because of the need to explore means of <br />financing a new City Hall, the need for the Capital Improvements Program to <br />be discussed, and with Budget time approaching, Council should consider having <br />some study sessions or adjourned meetings to discuss these matters in su/ficient <br />depth. <br /> <br />Councilman Brooks reminded Council that Board and Commission terms were <br />expiring and Council would be holding executive sessions for the purpose of <br />appointments to these Boards and Commissions. <br /> <br />RECESS At 4:52 P.M., on motion of Councilman <br /> Markel, seconded by Councilman Villa and <br /> carried, the meeting was recessed to <br />7:30 P.M., at which time it was reconvened with the same Council members <br />present. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was <br />delivered by Brisadier Goldthwaite of The Salvation Army. <br /> <br />SPECIAL RESOLUTION Vice Mayor Wade Herrin presented a <br /> Special Resolution of Commendation to <br /> Frank Miles, a teacher at Hoover School, <br />who received the 1969 George Washington Teacher's Medal from the Freedom <br />Foundation of Valley Forge. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />- 219 - <br /> <br />May 19, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
