SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF, GOVERNMENTS (continued) <br /> <br />Councilman Markel stated that he did not believe the City needed to join the associa- <br />tion to represent it at the Federal level; and that we go to the Federal level the least <br />of any city. <br /> <br />Mayor recognized and responded to a question from Mrs. Boer that the information <br />furnished to the Council on SCAG was compiled by the Staff. Mrs. Boer further <br />requested assurance that the Council would review its decision to join Before paying <br />its dues to SCAG for a second year. <br /> <br />Councilman Brooks stated that such decisions are always reviewed prior to the <br />allocation of funds for such purpose. <br /> <br />RECESS At 5:45 P.M., on motion of Councilman <br /> Brooks, seconded by Councilman Patterson <br /> and carried, the meeting was recessed to <br />7:30 P.M., at which time it was reconvened with the same Council members present. <br />Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by <br />Dr. Charles Simon of the Church of Religious Science. <br /> <br />PROCLAIVLATIONS OF Proclamations of Honorary Citizenship <br />HONORARY CITIZENSHIP were presented by the Mayor to American <br /> Field Service Exchange Students Doris Huber <br />of Switzerland, Paulo de Almeida of Brazil and Marisa Paoletti of Italy. <br /> <br />1969 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS Chairman of the Planning Commission <br />PROGRAM Gordon Bricken presented the Commission's <br /> recommendations for the 1969- 1974, <br />$20,979,050 Capital Improvements Program. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Villa, the Council <br />adopted in principle the 1969-1974 Capital Improvements Program recommended <br />by the Planning Commission with the method of financing to be decided during <br />Budget consideration, on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br /> AYES: Herrin, Brooks, Patterson, Villa, Griset <br /> NOES: Markel, Thurman <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br />SURPLUS BUILDINGS After considering Surplus Property Report <br />SPR NO. 18~69 i8-69 regarding two single-fam/1y resi- <br /> dences located at 914 and 916 Logan Street, <br />Conncil declared the buildings surplus and authorized demolition, on motion of <br />Councilman Markel, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />- 231 - <br /> <br />June Z, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
