RESIGNATION The Council accepted with regret the resig- <br /> nation of Mrs. Delores Duckett from the <br /> Board of Recreation and Parks, dated May 25, <br />1969, and directed the Clerk to forward a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Duckett, on <br />motion of Councilman Herrin, Seconded by Councilman Markel and carrled. <br /> <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE A written request dated May 29, 1969, from <br />CENTENNIAL FIESTA the Chamber of Commerce, for use of the <br /> triangle of land located at Fourth and Ross <br />Streets for a catered luncheon on July 9, 1969,. to be named the "Chamber Centennials' <br />Fiesta" was approved, on motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Villi l <br />and carried. <br /> <br />PARCEL IV~AP 612 A written request dated May 28, 1969, from <br />BURGER KING Bu~ger King, Inc., to continue considerati°n <br /> of Tentative Parcel Map 612, creating three <br />C 2 parcels on the southwest corner of First and Jackson, to the meeting of. June 16, <br />1969, was approved on motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Brooks <br />and carried. <br /> <br />CITY HALL PROJECT A motion by Councilman Brooks, seconded <br /> by Councilrnan Patterson, to authorize <br /> preparation of a Joint Powers Agreement <br />with the Civic Center Commission to finance construction of a City Hall in the Civlc <br />Center on a lease-back basis, as outlined in Alternative "1 ." of the City Manager's <br />report, "Funding a New City Hall", dated May 26, 1969, and to direct the Staff to <br />proceed as promptly as possible to have the Architect up-date preliminary plans, was <br />approved on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Brooks, Patterson, Villa, Griset <br />Herrin, Markel, Thurman <br />None <br /> <br />The motion was approved following a lengthy discussion during which the Mayor <br /> <br />recognized . . <br /> <br /> Mrs. Janice Boer <br /> 912 N. Lowell Street <br /> Santa Ana <br /> <br />constructed by lease-back financing. <br /> <br />who requested that a public hearing be held <br />on the matter to determine whether or not <br />the citizens of Santa Aha wanted a new City <br />Hall and whether or not they wanted it . <br /> <br />Councilman Herrin stated that it would not be in good taste to move with such haste; <br />that the citizens should be given an opportunity to be heard <br /> <br />Councilman Markel stated that the old Orange County Court House could be made into <br />a fine City Hall; that it is located in the Civic Center area; and that the Council should <br />not consider spending 3.5 rnillion dollars for the City Hall Project without consultlng <br />the people. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />- 226 - <br /> <br />June Z, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
