HOME RULE Following consideration of a written request <br /> dated May 16, 1969, from the Town of <br /> Erneryville, the City Attorney was instructed <br />to prepare a Resolution opposing any State legislation which would encroach upon the <br />principle of home rule, to be presented at the meeting of June 16th, on.motion of <br />Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Thurman and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />CALIFORNIA MUSEUM The Council considered a letter £rom the <br />OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY California Museum of Science and Industry <br /> offering space and time for a City exhibit <br />in conjunction with California's Bicentennial Celebration. <br /> <br />Following discussion, a motion by Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman <br />Marks1, to receive and file the communication was withdrawn. Councilman Villa's <br />motion, seconded by Councilman Patterson, to refer the communication to the <br />Centennial Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Division for con- <br />sideration and recommendation to the Council, was unanimously carried. <br /> <br />ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE <br />APPLICATIONS <br /> <br />License applications were ordered filed: <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Thurman, seconded <br />by Councilman Herrin and unanimously <br />carried, the following Alcoholic Beverage <br /> <br />Cerce's, 601 N. Harbor, New On Sale Beer; <br />Showroom, 2509 S. Main, New On Sale Beer. <br /> <br />VARIANCE AND CONDITIONAL It was moved by Councilman Thurman, <br />USE PERMITS seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried, <br /> to adopt the findings of fact; conclusions <br />and decisions of the Planning Commission or Zoning Administrator in the following <br />matters as actions of the City Council: <br /> <br />VA 69-28, MACCO CORP. - permit offstreet parking in the reqUired 30' front <br />yard and to allow a 200 sq. ft. doublefaced sign in the LM District at 2700-2800 <br />S. Main - APPROVED; <br />VA 69-29, GOODMAN - permit off street parking for commercial building in <br />the R 2 District with existing single family dwelling at 2131 S. Sycamore - <br />APPROVED; <br />VA 69-30, ALLSTATE INSURANCE - construct 45' high pole sign in the <br />P District at 1750 E. 4th - APPROVED; <br />VA 69-31, WILSON - construct 11 stall offstreet parking lot in R 3 District <br />at 1001 N. Ross ~ APPROVED. <br /> <br />VELVET KNIGHTS The Council approved a written request dated <br />DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS May 15, 1969, to recognize the Velvet Knights <br /> Drum and Bugle Corps as "Santa Ana's <br />Musical Ambassadors of Goodwill", on Councilman Herrin's motion, seconded by <br />Councilman Brooks and carried. Councilman Herrin stated that he would collaborate <br />with the City Staff to assist in providing a suitable City flag for the Corps to carry <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />- 225 - <br /> <br />June 2, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
