Clarence Jackson, 1501 West Raymar, President of the.N.A.A.C.P. Orange <br />County Chapter, spoke regarding the investigation following the shooting of <br />Officer Sasscer and presented a letter signed by Ron Lunceford stating he was <br />stopped and searched at gunpoint, which was ordered filed, on motion of Council- <br />man Brooks, seconded by Councilman Patterson and carried. Mr. Jackson <br />urged the establishment of a human relations committee to help bridge the gap <br />of communication. Ted Hyser, 2016 West 8th and Reverend Boyd, 710 South <br />Flower, Vice President Elect of the Interdenominational Churches Alliance, <br />also spoke on the subject. Jim Samuelson, 2901 South Rene Drive, stated that <br />he had lived in Santa Ana since 1954 and had the greatest respect for the Police <br />Department. <br /> <br />After discussion by Council, on motion of Councilman Patterson, seconded by <br />Councilman Villa and unanimously carried, Staff was directed to place the <br />question of a Community Relations Commission on the July 7th Agenda for <br />consideration by Council at that time when.ail Council members would be present. <br /> <br />Frieda Reed, 826 Golden West, requested information on a dance permit she had <br />applied for to hold teen age dances during the summer at a D. A. V. hall. She <br />was informed that the Staff would check on the status of the permit for her. <br /> <br />LATE CLAIM On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded <br /> by Councilman Patterson and unanimously <br /> carried, the Application for Leave to <br />Present Late Claim by Patrick Lynaugh, Claimant, was denied. <br /> <br />LICENSE FEE WAIVER The request from Childrens Hospital of <br /> Orange County for waiver of business <br /> 'license fees for Thrift Store at 2025 West <br />First Street was granted subject to compliance with the applicable Municipal Code <br />provisions, on motion of Councilman Villa, seconded by Councilman Patterson <br />and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />1969 - ?0 BUDGET Council set for public hearing on July 21, <br /> 1969, at 7:30 P.M. the 1969-70 Budget, <br /> on motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded <br />by Councilman Patterson and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN ABSENCE <br /> <br />BUDGET TRANSFERS <br /> <br />Budget Transfers: <br /> <br />Councilman Mark el advised the Council <br />that he would be unable to attend the July <br />7th and July 21st Council meetings. ~ <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seco~d <br />by Councilman Patterson and unanimous~ <br />carried, Council approved the following <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL - 250 - June 16, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
