RESIDENCE BOUNDARIES <br /> <br />boundaries for City employees. <br /> <br />Council considered the letter from <br />Santa Arm City Employees Association, <br />Inc,, requesting expanded residence <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in favor of extending the employee residence <br />boundaries to cover the entire area of Orange County; Jim Hagge0 Presi- <br />dent of the Santa Aha City Employees Association; QuinnMoore, member <br />of the Wage and Fringe Benefit Committee of the Employees Association; <br />Norwood Williams, representing the Police Department; and Pat Fleming, <br />representing the Fire Depax-£,~ent. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that he opposed changing the present boundaries <br />and read the recommendations of the Personnel Board following a hearing <br />on this matter, dated March 8, 1968. <br /> <br />After discussion by Council, it was moved by Councilman Patterson, <br />Seconded by Councilman Herrin, that the employees' residence bound- <br />aries be changed to include the entire area of Orange County and the <br />City'Attorney was instructed to prepare the appropriate resolution. The <br />motion was adopted on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, 'Patterson, Villa, Griset <br />Markel, Thurman <br />Brooks <br /> <br />REIMBURSEMENT On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Patterson <br /> and unanimously carried, Council <br />approved reimbursement to Gariande and Una Mae Leeper in the amount <br />of $1, 811.45 for street improvements on the southeast corner of 5th <br />Street and Figueroa Street in exchange for dedication of ultimate street <br />right of way of 40 feet on 5th Street. <br /> <br />HUMAN RELATIONS Councilman Patterson reported on the <br />FORMATION COMMITTEE 'first meeting of the Human Relations <br /> Formation Committee, held on July 14. <br />He stated that the Committee had appointed him as Chairman, had recom- <br />mended that a Human Relations Commission was needed; had recommended <br />appoimting women and youth to the Formation Committee; and had set the <br />nex~Y~aeeting date for July 28 at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Go~'don Bricken, 1017 North Wright Street, speaking as a private citizen, <br />urged Council to consider appointing to the Human Relations Commission <br />persons of the more conservative elements of the community, people who <br />have reservations about this particular involvement of government and <br />whose perspectives are different from those who are on the Formation <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Mayor Griset announced that Council would hold an Executive Session at <br />the Au~n~st 4th Council meeting to consider appointing women and youth <br />to the Human Relations Formation Committee. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -284- July 22, 1969 <br /> <br /> <br />
