PUBLIC HEARING Hearing was opened on the appeal <br />TAXI OPERATOR'S PERMIT filed by Albert Eckerle from the <br /> Police Chief's denial of permit to <br />operate a taxicab in Santa Ana. The appellant, Albert Eckerle, was <br />present and answered questions of the Council. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Villa, the <br />appeal was denied, on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Brooks. Evans, Markel. Villa, Griset <br />None <br />~Patte rson <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Villa, the <br />City Attorney was instructed to amend Section 6382.2 of the Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code to provide the right of appeal to the City Council at the <br />end of a three year period after a drunken driving conviction and that <br />appeal would have to made within a thirty day period after denial by the <br />Chief of Police, on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Brooks, Evans, Markel, Villa, Griset <br />None <br />Patterson <br /> <br />CLAIMS Council considered the Claims for <br /> Damages of Willie May McGil], <br /> Alice Thomas, Faye Johnson, <br />Clarence Bracken, Oscar Thomas, Harry D. Thomas, William Brooks. <br />On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrin, <br />the claims were denied on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Herrin, Brooks, Evans, Markel, Griset <br />Villa <br />Patterson <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />same Council members present. <br /> <br />At 9:45 P. M., a five minute recess <br />was declared. The Council re- <br />convened at 9:50 P. M., with the <br /> <br />DELHI ORGANIZATION Council considered the letter from <br /> Lorenzo Rios, Chairman, Delhi <br /> Organization, regarding the <br />Community Park Project at Warner and Halladay. Lorenzo Rios informed <br />the Council that representatives from their organization had met with the <br />City Staff in the morning and that their questions had been answered add <br />the problems resolvec~ and that further meetings were planned in the <br />future. Mr. Rios thanked Assistant City Manager Bruce Spragg and the <br />Staff for the opportunity of expressing themselves and invited the Council <br />to attend their Fiesta to be held September 12, 13, and 14. Mr. Spragg <br />stated Staff was trying to open up the line of communication and that the <br />meeting had been a gratifying experience and the Staff appreciated the <br />interest of the people involved.
