responsible for assisting cros with job placements and school enrollment. This staff <br />person will also work to expand the OCCC's current network of employers and <br />educational organizations to further facilitate and improve these post program <br />placements. In tandem with the OCCC WIA Coordinator, the OCCC Director of Cms <br />Development and other assigned staff will also be responsible for expanding OCCC's <br />current supportive service network designed to overcome identified barriers to <br />employment. Supportive service network expansion will include establishing the rapport <br />necessary to facilitate effective referral and follow-up with childcare providers, <br />apprenticeship programs, social service agencies, transportation providers, vocational <br />training schools, substance abuse counseling, housing, food, emergency services, etc. <br />Follow-up <br />OCCC will conduct 30-day, 90-day, 6-month and 12-month follow-ups with OCCC <br />graduates. The WIA Coordinator working with the Transition Specialist will contact both <br />the participant and the employer. Assistance will be provided to overcome any barriers <br />to employment retention, address and/or resolve problems or issues affecting job <br />performance, and to offer OCCC support and encouragement. Corpsmembers are <br />encouraged to return to OCCC for job search assistance, counseling, employment <br />retention skills reinforcement, and to complete high school requirements for graduation. <br />OCCC conducts monthly alumni meetings to afford graduates the opportunity to network <br />and receive assistance from OCCC education and case management staff. <br />Unemployed Corps graduates in good standing, i.e., satisfactory work performance and <br />attendance, will be eligible for OCCC rehire and further OCCC participation. <br />Staff Plan <br />Indicate how many staff and hours will be available to work with WIA participants. <br />The following is a partial list of key OCCC staff members who will be directly and <br />indirectly responsible for the Santa Ana-WIB funded program, i.e., program <br />development, implementation, outcomes and supervision. See attached budget <br />information for exact percentage of time for each staff member's involvement with the <br />program. <br />• Rick Stroup, OCCC Executive Director -MS, Education (School Administration) CA <br />Teaching, Pupil Personnel, and Administrative Credentials; 6 years experience with <br />OCCC and over 24 years experience working with youth and young adults in various <br />educational, community, and administrative settings; active member of the Santa <br />Ana, Anaheim and Orange County Youth Councils; chairs the Santa Ana <br />Empowerment Zone Workforce Development Committee; and was a state youth <br />council nominee; <br />• Robert Von Gietzen, Director of Operations-4 years experience with the OCCC; <br />former volunteer firefighter and trained Emergency Medical Technician; and over 6 <br />years experience supervising various types of work crews. <br />• Carmen Gonzalez, Director of Corpsmember Development- BS, Human <br />Services; 5 years experience with the OCCC; and over 6 years experience working <br />in community outreach and recruiting. <br />• Roberta Smith, OCCC Finance Manager-BS, Accounting; 11 years experience with <br />fund accounting in profit and non-profit organizations. <br />• Alicia Totaro, Teacher -CA teaching credential; 2 years experience working with <br />young adults as a teacher in public school settings. <br />20 <br />
