ARTICLE IX <br /> <br />9.0 VACATION <br /> <br />9.1 <br /> <br />9.2 <br /> <br />Purpose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in order to provide <br />them with a break in their regular work schedule and this purpose wiI1 be used as a guide in <br />the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br /> <br />Regular Vacation Period. <br /> <br />Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full-time permanent or probationary <br />employee, at the rate of 120 hours for each completed year of service, accrued at the <br />rate often (10) working hours for each completed month of service. <br /> <br />Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one (1) hour, with <br />fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one (1). <br /> <br />C. Computing Regular Vacation. <br /> <br />in computing regular vacation, each municipal holiday that occurs during the <br />vacation, and that falls on a day which the employee would have worked had <br />he or she not been on vacation, shall be deducted from the computation so <br />that one (1) additional day of regular vacation shall be allowed to the <br />employee. Should an employee be confined to a hospital for sickness or <br />injury while on authorized vacation, each full day of such confinement, when <br />confirmed by a physician's statement and approval of the Police Chief, may <br />be deducted from the computation of vacation expended and charged against <br />the employee's accumulated sick leave. <br /> <br />No employee may carry over t¥om one (1) calendar year to the next, more <br />than the equivalent of 240 hours of regular vacation from the previous two <br />(2) years, and vacation not taken beyond that amount is forfeited. A regular <br />vacation period is defined as the maximum amount of vacation earned in a <br />calendar year as provided in Subsection A above. <br /> <br />Employees may or may not be allowed or required to accumulate or split <br />vacations. The time at which an employee shall take his or her vacation shall <br />be determined by seniority within rank, with due regard for the needs of the <br />service. <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br /> <br />
