Board of Trustees for St. Joseph's Hospital and is a member of the WIB Youth Council. <br />Shawna Smith (.75), TSJ Tech Program Director. Shawna has worked at Taller San Jose <br />for over three years assisting in the development of numerous projects including TSJ <br />Tech. She received her B.A. from Santa Clara University and spent a year working with <br />the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Orange County. <br />Sister Christine Ray (1.0), Operations Coordinator. Sr. Chris worked as an administrative <br />assistant for the woodshop for two years. She received her B.A. in Liberal Arts from <br />Loyola Marymount. She has been a Sister of St. Joseph of Orange for over twenty years <br />and worked as a chaplain for St. Joseph's Hospital for ten years prior to coming to Taller <br />San Jose. <br />Daniel Suarez (1.0), Training Coordinator. Dan is responsible for the management of all <br />job - training elements including: instructional curriculum and materials, supervision of <br />instructors, student trainees, and volunteer craftsmen, operating within established <br />program budgets, overseeing building maintenance, and working with local businesses to <br />acquire materials and supplies. With over 30 years of construction and woodworking <br />experience, Dan provides strong mentoring and practical experience to the training <br />environment. <br />Kennedy Burkett (1.0), Training Instructor. Kennedy has worked with the woodshop <br />program since 2000. He is a licensed general contractor and has over 30 years experience <br />in woodworking. <br />Serafrn Serrano (.25), Job Developer. Serafin has over 7 years experience working with <br />youth from high risk communities. He has worked in the job development area for the <br />past five years with Taller San Jose and the City of Santa Ana. He is currently working <br />on his Associates of Arts Degree in Human Services. Over his past three years at Taller <br />San Jose, Serafrn has developed a Career Preparation curriculum and facilitated <br />workshops, monitored Career Center activities, tracked student job placements and <br />referrals and conducted follow -up reports <br />Serafrn is a highly relational mentor and role model who is both bilingual and bi- cultural. <br />Arturo Guerrero (.25), Case Manager. Artworks closely with students with criminal <br />and/or drug and alcohol issues. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Pepperdine <br />University. Before coming to Taller San Jose, Art worked for over twenty years as a <br />federal probation officer. <br />Due to anticipated program growth, Taller San Jose recently implemented a student <br />tracking system which monitors student attendance, goal setting and achievement, <br />educational assessment and progress, as well as assisting with recruitment and retention <br />efforts. This information helps staff target students in danger of dropping out of <br />educational or job training programs. <br />
