proximity to the TSJ Tech site and will make its services and resources available <br />to student and graduates of our work experience programs. SAWC staff will have <br />an active role in the presentation of job skills to TSJ Tech student apprentices. <br />In addition, TSJ Tech student apprentices who have not completed their <br />secondary education are encouraged to co- enroll in a high school diploma, GED <br />test preparation class or computer certification program. These diploma and <br />certification programs are sponsored through Santa Ana College /Centennial <br />Education Center at the Taller San Jose education program site. All educational <br />and leadership training programs sponsored by Taller San Jose can be utilized by <br />TSJ Tech student apprentices on an open - enrollment basis. <br />A network of local employers including: Austin Hardwood & Hardware, Shea <br />Properties, White Cap, HCS- Cutler, Home Depot, and a number of local <br />contractors will provide employment opportunities to graduates. Likewise, <br />OCCC will offer paid work experience and continuing education to those youth <br />who are not ready to enter the workforce immediately upon completing their <br />training at TSJ Tech. <br />6. Follow -up: Providing follow -up to students after they completed their studies or <br />job- training is a key part of the relational model used by Taller San Jose. TSJ <br />Tech is committed to providing follow -up services including mentoring, job <br />coaching, and support services to 100% of its graduates. Follow -up services <br />provide a stable foundation for students to build on as they transition for <br />unemployment into the workforce and include: <br />• Providing job placement and referral to student apprentices who achieve <br />certification in job- training coursework. <br />• Assisting students apprentices to maintain employment for a minimum of <br />6 months after placement through ongoing job coaching, mentoring, and <br />support services. <br />• Working as a liaison between employers and graduates for a minimum of <br />90 days after placement. <br />All follow -up services will be provided to graduates for 12- months after their <br />completion of job- training activities. Staff mentors will provide intensive support <br />through the first 90 days after placement providing weekly meetings. As <br />graduates acclimate to the workplace, meetings will happen on a bi- weekly or <br />monthly basis. <br />Staff Plan <br />There are four full -time and 2 part -time staff members available to student apprentices <br />at the TSJ Tech facility - a 3:1 student to staff ratio. Key staff for TSJ Tech include <br />the following people: <br />Sister Eileen McNerney (.20), founder and Executive Director of Taller San Jose.
