REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />~J~-O~¥ 20, 2004 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />STATE BOARD OF COi~RECTIONS, <br />TITLE II DELINQUENCY <br />PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION <br />PROGRAM GRANT AWARD <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APPROVED [] As Recommended <br /> [] As Amended <br /> [] Ordinance on 1~t Reading <br /> [] Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br /> [] Implementing Resolution <br /> [] Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />1) Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $200,000 in State Board <br /> of Corrections, Title II Delinquency Prevention and Intervention Program <br /> revenue account (account no. 155-01-5369) and appropriate funds to the <br /> State Board of Corrections, Title II Delinquency Prevention and <br /> Intervention Program expenditure account (account no. 155-354-various). <br /> <br />'2) Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br /> Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the State Board of <br /> Corrections to develop and implement the Leadership Development Strategy <br /> at McFadden Learning and Technology Center. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency, <br />was recently successful in applying for grant funds in the amount of <br />$200,000 with the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP), <br />Title II Delinquency Prevention and Intervention Program for the <br />development and implementation of the Leadership Development Strategy at <br />the McFadden Learning and Technology Center. Effective January 1, 2004, <br />OCJP was eliminated and the administration of the Title II Delinquency <br />Prevention and Intervention Program was transferred to the State Board of <br />Corrections. We do not anticipate any change in funding as a result of <br />this transfer. <br /> <br />e Title II Delinquency Prevention and Intervention program is aimed at <br /> oviding a comprehensive, coordinated approach to the problems of <br /> <br />Page 11 20.A. <br /> <br /> <br />
