State Board of Corrections, Title II <br /> Delinquency Prevention and <br /> Intervention Program Grant Award <br />· January 20, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />juvenile delinquency, through the cooperative efforts of the community and <br />law enforcement. The purpose of the McFadden Learning and Technology <br /> <br />Center is to make learning a fun, life long activity while helping <br />.students acquire skills that lead to success at school, work and home. <br />The Leadership Development Strategy was developed as a supplemental <br /> service at the Center with the purpose of reducing the number of <br /> suspensions and expulsions at targeted area schools by providing <br /> educational programs, positive alternative activities and supportive <br /> services that will encourage juveniles to remain in school, increase <br /> school attendance, and involve parents in their children's educational <br /> achievement. <br /> <br />The program will be conducted from January 1, 2004 through December 31, <br />2004 and will serve a total of 55 students and their families from <br />Spurgeon Intermediate and Lincoln, Monte Vista, and Jackson Elementary <br />Schools who exhibit known risk factors for future problem behavior. The <br />activities will include Teen Club activities, leadership development <br />opportunities, rewards and recognition for completion of program <br />components, peer and police officer mentoring, tutoring, educational <br />.excursions, Cultural Arts classes, family oriented recreation activities, <br />and Parent Education workshops. <br /> <br />FISCAL I~4PACT <br /> <br />The appropriation adjustment will recognize $200,000 from the State Board <br />of Corrections, Title II Delinquency Prevention and Intervention Program <br />in revenue account (account no. 155-01-5369) and appropriate funds to the <br />.State Board of Corrections, Title II Delinquency Prevention and <br />Intervention Program expenditure account (account no. 155-354-various). <br /> <br />Jon "~lp" Ribble, Executive <br />Director, Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency <br /> <br />20.A. <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS & ACCOUNT <br /> <br />Ro oma, Executive Dire~or <br />Finance and Mgmt.
