13 miles south from the City of Santa Aha is considered Go'be <br />one of the most dominant faults in regard to potential seismic <br />shaking impacts. The project site could potentially be subject <br />to a maximum credible horizontal ground acceleration of 0.30g <br />from a magnitude 6.9 earthquake along the Newport/Inglewood <br />fault zone. A seismic event of this scale could potentially <br />result significant damage to the proposed project. However, the <br />seismic risks at the project site would not be considered <br />significantly different from other areas in the southern <br />California region. To minimize potential seismic shaking impacts <br />the proposed project would be subject to seismic safety <br />standards of the Uniform Building Code. Additionally, the <br />proposed project would be required to prepare a construction- <br />level geotechnical report to address the seismic constraints on <br />the project site and to identify design recommendations to <br />insure the geotechnical stability of the project site. <br /> <br />A-3. Seismic'related ground failure, including l£quefaction? <br /> <br />Less Than Significant Impact <br /> <br />Soil liquefaction occurs when loose soil deposits below the <br />water table are subjected to large ground accelerations <br />generated from seismic events. Liquefaction is generally known <br />to occur in saturated cohesionless soils at depths shallower <br />than about 50-feet. According to the Preliminary Geotechnical <br />Report prepared for the Armstrong Ranch Development Project, the <br />project site is considered to have low potential for <br />liquefaction. <br /> <br />A-4. Landslides <br /> <br />No impact <br /> <br />The project area is flat without any topographical relief. <br />According to geotechnical investigation prepared for the <br />Armstrong Ranch Development Project, there are no landslide <br />planes or slopes within the project area.
