Erosion refers to the removal of soil from exposed bedrock <br />surfaces by water or wind. The effects of erosion are <br />intensified with an increase in slope, the narrowing of runoff <br />channels and by the removal of groundcover, which leaves the <br />soil exposed. <br /> <br />Construction operations for the proposed~project would require <br />the excavation, removal and recompaction of onsite soils, <br />importing of fill material, and grading. The uncovered soils on <br />the pro~ect site could potentially result in erosion and <br />sedimentation impacts to onsite and offsite drainage facilities. <br />This potential impact could increase during periods of rain. To <br />reduce potential erosion impacts to a level considered less than <br />significant, the following mitigation measure shall be <br />implemented. <br /> <br />Mitigation Measure <br /> <br />Prior to the issuance of a grading permit the applicant <br />shall submit for review and approval a surface <br />drainage/grading plan/erosion control plan, prepared by a <br />registered Civil Engineer, showing the direction and means <br />of flow to adjacent streets. The plan is to include <br />existing and proposed elevations at and adjacent to all <br />property lines. Drainage routed to 'the street must be <br />directed beneath the sidewalk and through the curb. <br /> <br />Would the project result in the loss of a unique geological <br />feature? <br /> <br />No Impact <br /> <br />According to the City's General Plan Land Use Element EIR and <br />the Preliminary Geotechnical Investigation prepared for the <br />Armstrong Ranch Development Project,' the project site does not <br />contain any unique geologic features.
