Iss 1/28/2004 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-011 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO <br />EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY <br />SERVICES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2004 URBAN AREAS <br />SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Fiscal Year 2004 Urban <br />Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program makes funds available to <br />local law enforcement agencies to enhance security and overall <br />preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. <br />These funds are authorized for use in the purchase of anti-terror equipment, <br />planning, training, exercises and technical assistance. <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana, by and through the Santa Ana Police Department, <br />wishes to apply for UASI Grant Program funding to enhance its ability to <br />respond to acts of terrorism. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief or their designee(s) to submit a <br />grant application to the State Office of Emergency Services, and to execute on behalf of <br />the City of Santa Ana, all required grant documents, including extensions and <br />amendments thereof. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Grant funds received hereunder shall be used to supplement existing <br />funds, and will not supplant funds that have been appropriated to enhance the City's <br />ability to provide homeland security to the citizens of Santa Ana in response to threats <br />or acts of terrorism. <br /> <br /> Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the <br />City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />55-C.
