<br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />. Reported that Council member Richard Chavez of Anaheim was <br />working on a letter to be signed by elected officials encouraging a <br />quick resolution to the grocery strike <br />. Asked the City Attorney how the public could place an item on a <br />Council agenda; the City Attorney responded that only City staff and <br />the Council can place items on an agenda, however, members of the <br />public may bring matters to the attention of the Council through oral <br />communication at the meetings <br /> <br />Council member Solorio <br />. Noted that in 2003, there were declining rates in many crime activities <br />in Santa Ana including larceny and robbery <br />. Congratulated Public Works Executive Director Jim Ross and his staff <br />for the completion of work on Dyer Road from Main Street and the 55 <br />Freeway <br />. Asked the Planning staff to check with the City of Costa Mesa on the <br />status of any projects south of Sunflower which may impact residents <br />in the Sandpointe neighborhood <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy <br />. Congratulated Stephen Harding on his appointment <br />. Asked staff to provide an update on the International Business Center <br />. Encouraged residents to attend the Multi-Cultural parade on February <br />7, 2004, and thanked all the sponsors of the parade and faire that <br />provided services and funding for the event; she noted that no city <br />funds were used. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bist <br />. Welcomed Stephen Harding to the City <br />. Reported that she was informed that residents in some areas in <br />Anaheim were able to watch Santa Ana meetings on local cable; she <br />asked staff to determine if Santa Ana residents had the same <br />opportunity to watch programs from other surrounding cities. <br />. Expressed concern relative to the reports of prostitution in the French <br />Court neighborhood and asked the Police Chief to work with the <br />neighborhood on this problem <br />. Noted that the City is working on a process to solve the traffic plan <br />issues in French Park and French Court but there has been a <br />significant reduction in traffic with the barriers in place; she further <br />noted that there are always pros and cons to every issue <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez <br />.
