Maria Yanez, Economic Development Aide reported that Neighborhood <br />Housing Services of Orange County was awarded $197,500 in third year <br />Federal Empowerment Zone funds .to operate a Home Rehabilitation <br />Program to benefit zone residents. Four home rehabilitation loans totaling <br />$150,991.63 were awarded to zone residents. The four loans will be sold <br />to Neighborhood Housing Services America and it is estimated that they <br />will generate over $100,000 in second generation funds. Ms. Yanez noted <br />that second generation funds do not have to conform to HUD guidelines, <br />thus they can be used at the discretion of the Board. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS - None <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Director Brewster <br />· Noted that since the Summer Youth Program was discontinued this <br /> year, the Empowerment Zone Board should look at job programs for <br /> youth. Following Director Brewster's comments, Board discussion <br /> ensued.
