<br />8.5 <br /> <br />8.6 <br /> <br />8.7 <br /> <br />8.8 <br /> <br />8.9 <br /> <br />8.10 <br /> <br />in this manner in the future. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />The watch commander shall send out an e-mail <br />message to all officers requesting a volunteer <br />to cover the shift by switching days off or <br />working on overtime. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />When a compensatory time off request is made <br />in a manner that does not comply with this <br />policy, and granting that request would unduly <br />disrupt the operations of the department, the <br />department may deny that request. <br /> <br />Incremental UsaGe. Time off with pay to compensate for <br />overtime worked may be taken in increments as small as one- <br />half (1/2) hour. <br /> <br />Excess UsaGe. If compensatory time off is used in excess of <br />that available, such excess compensatory time off will first <br />be deducted from any available vacation benefits and finally, <br />deducted from the next scheduled wage or salary payment. <br /> <br />No Effect on Other Benefits. Overtime work shall not apply to <br />the earning of employee benefits (retirement, holidays, <br />vacation accrual, sick leave accrual and employee insurance <br />benefits), toward the completion of probationary period or to <br />progression within a salary rate range. <br /> <br />Overtime Work to be Apportioned. To the extent that he is <br />reasonably able to do so, the Police Chief shall arrange work <br />programs to minimize overtime work; necessary overtime work <br />shall be apportioned among employees of like classification <br />and assignment. <br /> <br />Advance Compensation for Overtime. Time off with pay as <br />compensation for overtime may not be granted or taken in <br />advance of the overtime work for which the time off <br />compensates. Before compensatory time off with pay may be <br />taken, as herein provided, the overtime worked must have been <br />recorded on official payroll records at or about the time the <br />overtime work was performed. In the absence of such recording, <br />no compensatory time off with pay will be permitted. <br /> <br />Compensation for Overtime: Exclusions. No overtime payor <br />comp time shall be allowed an employee for attendance at <br />conventions, conferences, seminars or the like, unless such <br />employee is ordered to attend. Overtime payor comp time <br />shall be permitted only for attendance which is ordered on <br /> <br />30 <br />
