. .

Proposal

The YMCA of Orange County proposes to work collaboratively with the City of Santa
Ana to provide a day camp program at Santiago Park for the community of Santa Ana.
The program would be available to campers of all ages, pre-school through high school.
The day camp would operate Monday through Friday for ten consecutive weeks,
beginning June 21, 2004. Day camp hours would be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with
pre and post camp available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pre-
school campers would have a half day program.

The day camp would utilize Santiago Park's natural setting as a backdrop for program
activities. Occasionally campers would also participate in off-site field trips. The YMCA
of Orange County would provide the program and operate all aspects of the activities.
The City of Santa Ana would provide the facilities and pre-scheduled program support.

About the YMCA of Orange County

The YMCA of Orange County has a rich camp tradition that began on Catalina Island in
1907 and has continued to change lives into the 21't century. With ongoing focus on
spirit, mind and body, the YMCA camp experience goes deeper than just fun activities.
Camp provides a positive, healthy environment focused on children. And whether they
choose a week of day camp, overnight adventures or an expedition on Catalina Island,
campers can expect a summer filled with camp songs, craft projects, exciting
adventures, character development, and memories that will last a lifetime!

CHARACTER COUNTS!
The YMCA of Orange County is a member of the CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition.
Each day campers learn about incorporating the "six pillars" of character (Respect,
Caring, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Fairness and Citizenship) into their lives. These
values are an integral part of every YMCA camp program, and provide campers with
lifelong character skills.

American Camping Association Accreditation
As part of our commitment to quality programs, all YMCA of Orange County camps are
accredited by the American Camping Association. This nationally recognized program
focuses on program quality and health and safety. Accreditation requires our camps to
review every facet of their program operation and then voluntarily submit to an
independent appraisal conducted by camp experts.

The YMCA of Orange County has a long history of operating ACA Accredited camps. All
of our programs have proudly earned this mark of distinction. In addition to accreditation,
three of our leadership staff members are ACA Accreditation standards trainers and
volunteer visitors that coach other ACA camps through the accreditation process.

\VOAY CAM~

We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.
