The Lourie House, circa 1904, <br />qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana. Register of Historical <br />Properties as a building with distinguishing characteristics of the <br />Craftsman bungalow architectural style. Additionally, the structure <br />is eligible to be categorized as Contributive as it contributes to the <br />overall character and history of Washington Square as one of the <br />earlier homes builtin the area. It is a good example of period <br />architecture characterized by the horizontal massing, composition, low <br />pitched roof, tripartite windows, elephantine piers on brick pedestals <br />and clapboard siding. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1403 North Olive Street, Nelson House. The Nelson House, built in <br />1938, qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties as a building with distinguishing characteristics of an <br />architectural style or period, the Colonial Revival style. <br />Additionally, the structure is eligible to be categorized as <br />Contributive as it contributes to the overall character and history of <br />Washington Square and is a good example of period architecture as a <br />highly intact example of a Colonial Revival home from the pre World <br />War II period. The character defining features include the <br />symmetrical façade, side gabled roof, shuttered sash windows and <br />surrounds, clapboard siding and the front entry surrounded by a <br />segmental arch pediment supported by raised pilasters. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />826 North Towner Street, Jellison House. The Jellison House, circa <br />1916, qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties as a Craftsman bungalow. Additionally, the structure is <br />eligible to be categorized as Contributive as it contributes to the <br />overall character and history of Washington Square neighborhood as one <br />of the earlier homes built in the area. Its orientation to the south <br />suggests the house may have originally sat .on a larger parcel fronting <br />on Hickey Street now known as Civic Center Drive. The Jellison House <br />is also a good example of period architecture as an intact and <br />characteristic example of the Craftsman style with distinguishing <br />features such as the horizontal massing, narrow clapboard siding, <br />cross-gabled roof with overhanging eaves, exposed beams and a south <br />facing porch shaded by the extended roof.
