<br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilmember Solorio <br />. Stated that there will be public hearings at both the Planning <br />Commission and the City Council relative to One Broadway Plaza <br />project; he noted that the Ad Hoc Committee, staff and the developer <br />are in the negotiation process. The public will be advised of the dates <br />and times of the hearings <br />. Asked staff to review the procedures used in tree trimming and pruning <br />and seriously consider the suggestion made under public comments; <br />he further asked for a report in writing <br />. Reminded residents that tax day is April 15 and encouraged anyone <br />needing help to contact the Legal Aid Society of Orange County which <br />provides a free service, and which will explain the tax credit for families <br />. Congratulated Rip Ribble and the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency on their efforts in making synthetic turf a reality in <br />Santa Ana <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilmember Christv <br />. Announced that on April 7, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at the Discovery <br />Science Center, Fan Yang, Master of the soap bubble, will attempt to <br />break the Guinness Book record with fifteen people in a bubble; she <br />encouraged residents to attend Bubblefest VIII showing from April 3 <br />through April 18, 2004 <br />. Asked Chief Walters to report on the program sponsored by the <br />Brotherhood of the Badge for police officer training in Iraq which would <br />utilize surplus equipment from police departments in other countries; <br />Chief Walters reported that there is a great need for small firearms, <br />bullet proof vests and helmets. These items are generally discarded <br />after their life cycle; the SAPD has been asked to donate surplus <br />equipment. Chief Walters stated that he will be forwarding a request to <br />the Council to participate in this program <br />. Noted that at the National League of Cities Meeting in Nashville, <br />Tennessee, she saw an exhibit from Tibet in the Library; she further <br />noted that she got a letter from the Nashville Library thanking her and <br />Peter Keller from Bowers Museum for donating the book "Treasures of <br />Tibet" to the exhibit <br />. Wished everyone a happy Passover and Easter <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Council member Bist <br />. Thanked all the applicants for Community Development Block Grant <br />funds and thanked the Human Relations Commission for their hard <br />work <br />. Noted that she believed it was taking too long to draft an ordinance <br />relative to vending trucks <br />. Congratulated the French Court neighborhood on its reorganization <br />.
