I. GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The overall objective of this request for proposal is to contract for consultant services to prepare <br />Contract Documents (plans and specifications for construction), an "Opinion of Probable Cost', <br />and to provide limited field observation during construction of a new Necropsy Facility at the <br />Santa Ana Zoo, which is described below. <br />This effort shall require a multi -disciplinary approach which will require the consultant to provide <br />for and coordinate the professional services of a project team which includes an architect, survey <br />crew, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers. <br />The selected consultant(s) will work closely with the City of Public Works Agency, who will be <br />responsible for scheduling meetings and coordinating the process with City's Santa Ana, Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Agency and Zoo Staff. <br />The Santa Ana Zoo is located within Prentice Park on the eastern edge of the city (see Exhibit "A"), <br />bordered by the Interstate -5 freeway to the east, Chestnut Avenue to the south, Elk Lane to the <br />west and First Street to the north. The new Necropsy Facility is to be located along the north- <br />eastern portion of this site (see Exhibit `B"). <br />All tasks identified as part of this proposal are to be completed by the selected consultant, except <br />those identified under "City Responsibilities". <br />A. Objectives and Design Considerations: <br />1. The new Necropsy building shall be anew facility approximately 20'x 20' square, in an <br />area adjacent to the existing Quarantine Facility and Veterinary Facility. <br />2. The Programmic Elements to be included are as follows: <br />• Architectural: <br />Finished surfaces (floors, walls, ceilings): All should be non-absorbenVnon-porous, non- <br />toxic and readily disinfected, resistant to impact, resistant to adverse effects of hot water, <br />steam and cleaning agents and biological materials such as urine and feces. In particular, <br />the base shall be CMU or concrete stem wall (cove corner), and the floor shall be <br />concrete with sealer. <br />• Ceiling Height: 8'-0" min. <br />Provide a 12" high raised platform along one wall to place appliances by others. <br />Door Width: double door system, with no middle post <br />• Mechanical: <br />• Exhaust Air: Yes <br />• Return Air: No <br />• Special Notes: Provide approved HEPA filter. <br />
