WITH SAME <br />MEMBERS PRESENT <br /> <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />WSA <br /> <br />Housing Authority Update - Community Development Agency <br /> <br />Linda Foster, Housing Authority Coordinator presented an update on the <br />City's Housing Authority. Highlights of this presentation are as follows: <br /> <br />. In 1974, designated by the State of California as a Housing Authority <br />under Health and Safety Code 34200-34606 <br />. Funding to administer the Section 8 Program is through the U.S. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) <br />. There is currently a waiting list of 9,315 families/individuals; preference <br />is given to Santa Ana residents or individuals who work in Santa Ana <br />. The household types of participants include: Family (50%), Disabled <br />(24%). Elderly (18%), and other (8%) <br />. Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance is for familieslindividuals <br />whose income is at 50% or below the median income for Orange <br />County <br />. Families/individuals chose any type of housing where the owner <br />agrees to participate in the program <br />. Units are inspected initially and annually to insure they meet Housing <br />Quality Standards (HQS) <br />. The family/individual pays a minimum of 30% and not more than 40% <br />of their income for new leases <br />. Family Unification Vouchers - Santa Ana Housing Authority has <br />Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Orange Social <br />Service Agency <br />. This program serves families for whom the lack of adequate housing is <br />a primary factor in separation, or threat of imminent separation, of <br />children from their families <br />. Eligible families are referred from the County of Orange Social Service <br />Agency and must meet all Housing Choice Voucher eligibility criteria <br />.
