WITH SAME MEMBERS PRESENT <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Alex Vega addressed the Council in support of the French Park barriers and <br />the need to protect the children of the neighborhoods; Jose Sanchez <br />reported that the City's legal case against him had been dropped by the <br />Court; Antonio Vega presented a petition to the Council requesting a <br />rehabilitation center for children in Santa Ana; Eric Soto and John Vega also <br />spoke in support of this petition. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Garcia: <br /> · Thanked the City Manager and Public Works staff for their efforts on <br /> behalf of the city in reaching a settlement agreement with Metrolink <br /> on the second track; asked staff to look at additional safety <br /> improvements at railroad crossings <br /> · Thanked the Fire and Police Departments for successful holiday toy <br /> drives <br /> · Asked staff to work on ways to protect Iow and moderate income <br /> housing funds which are in jeopardy due to budget cuts <br /> <br />Councilmember Solorio: <br /> · Wished everyone a happy new year <br /> · Thanked staff for all their efforts and responsiveness to the Council <br /> and residents of the City; and noted that he was looking forward to <br /> working with staff in the coming year <br /> · Thanked the City Manager and the City Attorney for their efforts with <br /> respect to the John Wayne Airport corridor and noted that the <br /> Federal Aviation Authority supports continuation of the evening <br /> curfew at John Wayne Airport <br /> <br />Councilmember Christy: <br /> · Noted that there were store openings during the holidays including <br /> the new Trader Joe's on Bristol and a new Italian Restaurant at the <br /> corner of Fairview and Warner and encouraged the Council and <br /> residents to patronize these establishments <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 JANUARY 6, 2003 <br /> <br /> <br />
