Reminded residents that the Mother's Day Mariachi Festival was this <br />weekend, Saturday May 8, 2004 and thanked the sponsors, city staff <br />and the Friends of Recreation and Parks for all their hard work <br />. Reminded residents to act responsibly on Cinco de Mayo and not to <br />drive if drinking <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Franklin <br />. Noted that April was Earthquake preparedness month and reminded <br />residents of the importance of keeping necessary supplies available and <br />also exchanging phone numbers with neighbors <br />. Noted that two Santa Ana officers recently tried out for a women's <br />professional football team <br />. Congratulated the Santa Ana Unified School District for it's successful <br />WorkAbility/Transition Partnership program which promotes independent <br />living and provides comprehensive pre-employment, employment, work- <br />site training and follow-up services for youth in Special Education who <br />are making the transition from school to work; he encouraged employers <br />to give these students a chance <br />. Asked the City Manager to follow up with the City of Anaheim which is in <br />the process of renegotiating its franchise with Edison and determine if <br />there is any opportunity for Santa Ana to underground <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido <br />. Noted that the City is working very aggressively with the State <br />Legislature and the governor to come up with budget solutions <br /> <br />Adjourned in Memory of J.
