Proposal Exterior Paint and Structural Retrofit
City of Santa Ana -Two Reservoirs
February 23, 2004
to bring reservoir in line with a 60 year experience on performance of
reservoirs during earthquakes for specific zones.
7. Three copies of all written reports will be submitted.
8. Meet with City to discuss results and recommendations to determine the scope
of work for preparation of the technical specifications and drawings.
9. Seismic recommendation will include a general site risk assessment.
a. A geotechnical study is not included as part of this Proposal. If a
geotechnical study is required, this work should be accomplished by a
reputable geotechnical consultant. At a minimum, the following should
be addressed in any geotechnical study:
1) The geologic setting of the site
2) Potential geologic hazards, including, faulting and seismic
analysis to estimate expected ground motions with associated
single-degree-of-freedom horizontal acceleration or velocity
response spectra for 0.5, 2.0, 5.0 and 10.0 percent levels of
structural damping.
3) Site coefficient (per UBC standards)
4) General subsurface conditions
5) General extent of existing overburden soils
6) Stability of existing slopes
7) Potential for liquefaction
8) Evaluation of bearing capacities of the existing reservoir
foundations and development ofrecommendations for additional
foundation support for both downward and upward loads.
9) Corrosivity evaluation of soil samples (This was possibly
accomplished during original or subsequent project which
involved subgrade piping, etc.)
D. SCOPE OF WORK -EXTERIOR CORROSION EVALUATION
1. Accomplish review of any records relevant to the project and accomplish field
Harper & Associates Engineering, Inc.
proposals~.SantaAna-2tks 3
