Proposal Exterior Paint and Structural Retrofit <br />City of Santa Ana -Two Reservoirs <br />February 23, 2004 <br />investigations of complete exterior of reservoirs, to evaluate the present <br />condition of reservoir from the following standpoints: <br />a. Corrosion-related structural soundness of the reservoir and the <br />foundation. <br />b. Condition of paint; how it is protecting the steel from corrosion, their <br />aesthetic qualities, the percent failures, and the ability to be recoated. <br />c. Adhesion tests to determine ability to overcoat existing paint. <br />d. Condition of appurtenances: float, overflow, inlet, ladders, etc. <br />e. Environmental and operating conditions which affect the use of the <br />reservoir, maintenance of the reservoir, the aggressiveness of the <br />atmosphere and water, and extent of abrasion damage. <br />2. Field evaluation of the reservoirs to visually inspect and photograph visible <br />deficiencies would entail one site visit per reservoir on the same day. <br />3. Surfaces would be photographed and entered into a Photographic Survey album <br />which would be included in the detailed written report. <br />4. Conclusions and recommendations would be prepared for the following and <br />included in the detailed written report. <br />a. Cause(s) of deficiencies. <br />b. Paint repair or replacement, including extent of deficient areas, <br />estimated costs, and life expectancy. <br />c. Additional items to enhance maintenance and safety <br />5. Three copies of all written reports will be submitted. <br />6. Meet with City to discuss results and recommendations to determine scope of <br />work for technical specifications, during meeting noted in C. 8. above. <br />7. Safety Procedures <br />a.
