EXECUTIVE SESSION (continued) <br /> <br />Commission. The Council reconvened at 3:20 P. M. , with all Council members <br />present. Mayor Griset reported that the City Council has established April 6 <br />as the deadline for applications to be received for membership on the Commission <br />and stated that the Council would interview applicants on April 9, starting at <br />2:00 P. M. <br /> <br />Prior to adjournment to the Executive Session, the Mayor recognized Mrs. <br />Janice Boer, 912 North Lowell, Santa Ana, who stated that the list of names <br />furnished by Councilman Patterson for consideration in making appointments to <br />the Human Relations Commission should be ignored; that there is bias and dis- <br />crimination present on that list; and that such a list should include more repre- <br />sentation from the business, middle-income, conservative and Republican groups. <br />The Mayor replied that no screening of names had been undertaken yet; that he <br />hoped a great many more names would be submitted before the time for final <br />decision; and he invited Mrs. Boer to submit her recommendations for appoint- <br />ment to the Commission. <br /> <br />PROJECT 7011 - MODIFICATIONS Council considered award of contract for <br />POLICE BUILDING Project 7011 - Construct Minor Modifiea- <br /> tions in Police Department Building - and <br />the request by prime contractors for more time to deal with their subcontractors. <br />On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Patterson and unanimously <br />carried, the City Council authorized extension of bid opening date to March 9, 1970. <br /> <br />PROJECT 3016 - SANITARY Consideration of award of contract for <br />SEWER CENTENNIAL PARK Project 3016 - Construction of Sanitary <br /> Sewer in Centennial Park - was held over <br />to the evening session, on motion of CounCilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman <br />Evans and unanimously carried, after the City Manager explained that the low bidder <br />had indicated by telephone last week that he had made a clerical error in his bid and <br />would like to be relieved of the bid; that since that time staff has been unable to get <br />in touch with him, but would keep trying to contact him through the remainder of <br />the day in order to obtain the request in writing from him. <br /> <br />Later, at the evening session, the City Manager reported that the low bidder had <br />been contacted and would have a letter in the following day asking to be relieved of <br />the bid due to a clerical error in his bid. On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br />seconded by Councilman Yamamoto and unanimously carried, Council ordered <br />filed report of bids received for Project 3016 - Construction of Sanitary Sewer in <br />Centennial Park; awarded contract to the second lowest bidder, Bart Pipeline; and <br />rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />PROJECT 6017 - SIDEWALKS AND On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br />PLANTERS AT JEROME PARK by Councilman Patterson and unanimously <br /> carried, Council ordered filed report of bids <br />received for Project 6017, Construction of Concrete Sidewalks and Planters at <br />Jerome Park (rebid); awarded contract to the low bidder, Diamond Builders; and <br />rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -53- March 2, 1970 <br /> <br /> <br />
