CHICAGO SEVEN (continued) <br /> <br />their meeting of April 21, protesting the appearance of five members of <br />the "Chicago Seven" at the University of California Irvine on April 26. <br />After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Herrin, seconded by <br />Councilman Markel and unanimously carried, that the Mayor be directed <br />to send a letter to the Chancellor at the University of California Irvine, <br />stating the City Council's position that it condemns any action which would <br />give status and prestige to the five members of the "Chicago Seven" appear- <br />ing there on April 26 or to any group which advocates the overthrow of the <br />United States government or the wanton destruction of property or violation <br />Of human rights. <br /> <br />STATE BAR ASSOCIATION On motion of Councilman Herrin0 <br />CONFERENCE seconded by Councilman Patterson <br /> and unanimously carried, City <br />Attorney William L. Mock was authorized to attend the State Bar Association <br />Conference in Los Angeles in September as an alternate delegate at City <br />expense. <br /> <br />JEROME PARK <br /> <br />in and around Jerome Park. <br /> <br />Councilman Villa stated that the <br />Council had heard reports of gambling, <br />sex, sex perversion and dope activity <br /> <br />The City Manager responded that there had been fewer problems at Jerome <br />Park than could have been anticipated and that he would defend its use on <br />any occasion. <br /> <br />Foll~)wing further discussion, the Council requested a staff report on the <br />conditions at Jerome Park on motion of Councilman Evans, seconded by <br />Councilman Patterson and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />EARTH DAY PARADE Ernie Wallengren, Santa Ana High <br /> School student, representing the <br /> Santa Aha Ecology Club, requested <br />permission of Council to hold a parade around the perimeter of the high <br />school on Wednesday morning, Ap~l 22, at 8:00 A. M., in conjunction <br />with "Earth Day". The request was granted, on motion of Councilman <br />Herrin, seconded by Councilman Villa and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT At 11:35 P.
