APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS The Mayor announced that during <br />AND COMMISSIONS the afternoon Executive Session <br /> decisions were made for appoint- <br />rnents to vacancies on various Boards and Commissions. On motion <br />of Councilman Herrin~ seconded by Councilman Evans, and unanimously <br />carried, the following persons were appointed as indicated: <br /> Term of Office <br /> Jack O'Dell Planning Commission 7/1/71 - 6/30/73 <br /> Harold Gosse Personnel Board 7/1/71 - 6/30/75 <br /> John Leahy Museum Board 7/1/71 - 6/30/75 <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council administered oaths of office to the appointees. <br /> <br />SPECIAL RESOLUTIONS The Mayor read and presented to <br /> Rudolph V. Francis a Resolution <br /> expressing the City's gratitude for <br />coming to the assistance of Police Officer Frank Schultz during an incident <br />that occurred on May 26th. Officer Schultz described the circumstances <br />of the incident, and stated that out of 200 to 300 persons presenf, Mr. <br />Francis was the only one who came to his aid. Police Chief Allen expressed <br />deep gratitude on behalf of the entire police force, and all police officers <br />present gave Mr. Francis a standing ovation. Mr. Francis spoke briefly <br />in accepting the commendation, stating there was someone in trouble and <br />he could not stand by and do nothing. <br /> <br />The Mayor read and presented to Jon Carey of the Santa Ana Fire <br />Department a yesolution expressing the City's gratitude for saving the <br />life of two-year old Tim Reynolds by giving mouth -to-mouth resuscitation <br />at the scene of the near drowning. In accepting the commendation, Mr. <br />Carey stated he had been at the right place at the right time. His name <br />was added to the KWIZ Kool Head Award plaque. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION The Mayor announced that the City <br /> of Santa Ana has been involved in <br /> an action to secure the compliance <br />of The Irvine Company to an agreement into which they entered in 1963, <br />and that he and members of the staff had been in court during the day for <br />a hearing on this-rnatter. At 7:50 P. M., the meeting was recessed to an <br />Executive Session in order that Mr. William Wenke, Attorney, might brief <br />the Council in private session on the matter.
