MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />July 12, 1971 <br /> <br />An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />was convened at 7:10 P.M.~ in the Mayor's Office, City Hall, 217 North <br />Main Street, proper Notice and Posting having been accomplished, with <br />evidence on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council. The following <br />Councilmen were present: Wade Herrin, Vernon S. Evans, J. Ogden <br />Markel, Jerry M. Patterson, Harry K. Yamamoto and Mayor Lorin <br />Griset. Councilman Ray Villa arrived at 7:15 P.M. Also present were <br />City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney James A. Withers, <br />Assistant City Manager Bruce Spragg, Clerk of the Council Florence I. <br />Malone and a representative of the Press. <br /> <br />1971-1972 BUDGET <br /> <br />Budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Griset invited suggestions <br />and recommendation from the <br />Council regarding the proposed <br /> <br />It was the Council consensus that water and trash services should pay <br />their own way; and that the approximately $250,000 carry-over of funds <br />should be allocated to capital improvements. <br /> <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT It was moved by Councilman <br />BUDGET Patterson, seconded by Council- <br /> man Evans and unanimously <br />carried that the proposed Budget be amended to include $16,000 from the <br />carry-over funds to reinstate teenage and other recreational programs <br />that had originally been deleted from the Recreation Department budget. <br /> <br />Councilman Patterson's motion, seconded by Councilman Evans, to amend <br />the proposed budget to include $50,000 and $30,000 from the carry-over <br />funds for Centennial Park development and lighting and for the re-lamping <br />of Memorial Park, respectively, failed on the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Patterson, Evans, Villa <br /> Herrin, Griset, Yamamoto, Markel <br /> None <br /> <br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS The City Manager was instructed <br /> to prepare a report setting forth <br /> priorities for approximately <br />$150,000 worth of street improvements on the unanimously carried motion <br />of Councilman Patterson, seconded by Councilman Villa. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL -241- July 12, 1971 <br /> <br /> <br />
