SADDLEBACKINN Artist's renderings of the proposed <br />PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS Saddleback Inn pedestrian overpass <br /> were presented to Council by the <br />architect for the project, Mr. William Swank. Mr. Swank stated that steel <br />resembling wood will be substituted for the wood construction originally <br />planned. <br /> <br />The plans and renderings as presented were approved on motion of Councilman <br />Herrin, seconded by Councilman Villa, and carried on the following roll call <br />vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />AB SEN T: <br /> <br />Herrin, Villa, Evans, Griset, Patterson <br />Yamamoto, Markel <br />None <br /> <br />STREET LIGHT UPGRADING On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Yamamoto, <br /> and unanimously carried, the report, <br />dated May 31, of the proposed street lighting improvement program was <br />approved. <br /> <br />PROPOSED ORANGE FREEWAY On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Evans, and <br /> unanimously carried, Council for- <br />warded a letter dated May Z3, 1972, from the Santa Aha Planning Commission, <br />requesting an early decision with regard to the proposed Orange Freeway, <br />Route 57 Study, to the Mayor's Freeway Committee with Council endorsement. <br /> <br />SANTA ANA FREEWAY On motion of Councilman Evans, <br /> seconded by Councilman Villa, and <br /> unanimously carried, Councilmen <br />Patterson, Yamamoto and Markel were authorized to attend the hearing <br />regarding engineering design of interchange modification and overcrossing at <br />Broadway and the Santa Aha Freeway and Councilman Patterson was authorized <br />to represent the Council. <br /> <br />STREET NAME CHANGE On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Patterson, <br /> the Council unanimously approved the <br />Planning Commission recommendation to change the name of Sherry Boulevard, <br />bet%veen Fourth and Seventeenth Streets, to Cabrillo Park D~ive, and the City <br />Attorney was instructed to prepare the appropriate resolution. <br /> <br />RAITT STREET PARK SITE On motion of Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by Councilman Evans, and <br /> carried unanimously, Council <br />received and ordered filed letters from the Board of Recreation and Parks, and <br />Segers/rom Republic Homeowners Association, endorsing proposal for partial <br />sale and development of park property on Raitt Street, and authorized sale of <br />a portion of the park property as proposed in Manager's memo dated March 30, <br />197Z, subject to development policy set forth in the Republic Homeowners <br />Association letter dated May 24, 1972. <br /> <br />Prior to voting Councilman Villa stated that the City of Santa Aha is behind in <br />the development of parks; that we should retain the land we now have to use <br />for park sites. Councilman Patterson stated that he was in favor of the sale <br />of this property only because of the large size of the land; that even after <br />selling a portion of the parcel, there would still be enough acreage for a park. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES -224- June 5, 1972 <br /> <br /> <br />
