CONSENT CALENDAR - (Continued} <br /> <br />REIMBURSEMENTS <br /> <br />The following reimbursements were <br />authorized: <br /> <br />CALVARY CHAPEL, for street improvements on the north <br />side of Sunflower Avenue from Fairview Street to 689 feet <br />west in exchange for ultimate dedication, CUP 71-18, in the <br />amount of $9,090.00. <br />EARL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION for street improvements <br />on Sherry Boulevard (Cabrillo Park Drive) from Fruit S~reet to <br />Seventeenth Street in exchange for ultimate dedication, PM 703, <br />in the amount of $72,500.00. <br />SANTA ANA DATSUN, INC., for street improvements on the <br />north side of Seventeenth Street from 189 feet west of to 677 <br />feet east of Williams Street in exchange for ultimate dedica- <br />tion, VA 71-19, in the amount of $8,537.79. <br /> <br />SURPLUS PROPERTY <br /> <br />Declared surplus and authorized sale <br />of individual lots of scrap materials <br />during fiscal year 1972-73. <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * *CONSENT CALENDAR FINIS* * * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />BID CALL On motion of Councilman Yamamoto, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herrin, with <br /> Councilman Markel voting NO, plans <br />and specifications were approved and advertisement for bids was authorized <br />on the following: <br /> <br />SPEC. 72-004 - One (1) Arts & Crafts Mobile Unit and one <br />(1) Mobile Game Unit; opening date June 20, 1972 - 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />BID AWARD The Mayor recognized Mr. Jack Smith, <br />SPEC. 725-104 representing Taus ch Insurance Company <br />LIABILITY INSURANCE one of the two bidders for the City's <br /> liability insurance contract. Mr. Smith <br />distributed copies of a letter prepared by Lee Struthers, one of the insurance <br />agents who was invited to bid the contract. Mr. Smith stated that the 10 days <br />allotted for preparation and submission of the bid had been insufficient to enable <br />Mr. Struthers to submit bids on behalf of two insurance companies due to the <br />complexities of the bid requirements. <br /> <br />Councilman Evans returned to the meeting at 3:35 P. M. <br /> <br />In addition to the letter, Mr. Smith distributed to Council a summary of comments <br />regarding the bid specifications and the bids received, and proceeded to orally <br />review them. He recommended that the bids and specifications be reviewed by <br />the City Manager, Attorney, and Finance Director in light of the information pro- <br />vided. <br /> <br />In response to questions from the Council, the City Manager stated that all <br />insurance agents requested to bid were provided with the specifications and the <br />addendum thereto at the same time. He added that present coverage would expire <br />June 30, 1972, and there is not enough time to re-bid. Councilman Herrin moved <br />to continue the award of the contract to the meeting scheduled for June 26.
