RES, 73-15 Council considered the report <br />CITY HALL PARKING of th~ Director of Public Works <br /> dated February 16, 1973, setting <br />forth the need for short time parking near City Hall for citizens who want to <br />pay water bills or make other short visits to City Departments. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 73-15 CREATING A 24~MINUTE PARKING ZONE WITHIN <br />AN EXISTING 2-HOUR ZONE (PAl{KING DISTRICT B) was read by title <br />only and adopted on motion of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by <br />Councilman Herrin, land unanimously carried on a 6-0 vote. (CA 18; CA 77.5) <br /> <br />ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE <br />LICENSE APPLICATION <br />(MINOR EXCEPTION 73-2 - <br />CAL ENTERPRISES) <br /> <br />Council reinstated its protest <br />of the Alcoholic Beverage <br />License Application of <br />Kenneth Peterson, Robert <br />L. Purcell, and Joseph N. <br /> <br />Turner, 70 feet north of 2533 South Main Street, which had been withdrawn <br />by the City Attorney on February 6, 1973, after considering a letter sent <br />to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board from the City Attorney's office <br />dated' F~bruary12, 1973, explaining that Minor Exception Permit 73-2 <br />issued by the City allows the applicants to serve alcohol within 300 feet <br />of property zoned for residential purposes only on the condition that they <br />operate a !'bona fide restaurant", and that the license applied for from <br />ABC specifically preclurl~es'the operation of a "bona fide restaurant", <br />on motion of Councilman Yamamoto, seconded by Councilman Evans, and <br />unanimously carried on a 6-0 vote. (CA 146; CA 13.2) . <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Councilman Markel stated that <br /> there was a problem with a <br /> blocked sidewalk at 806 Cypress <br />where apartments were being constructed; that the City was leaving itself <br />open to accidents; and proper consideration wES not being given to residents <br />living in that area. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that staff would look into the problem and give <br />Councilman Markel,a report. (CA 35) <br /> <br />Councilman Markel requested the status of the Willowick Golf Course matter. <br /> <br />In response, the City Attorney stated that information requested from Garden <br />Grove had been slow in getting back to his office, but that he expected to <br />have the~necessary information to present at the meeting of Ma~ch 5, 1973. <br />(CA 'SZ. 6) , <br /> <br />Councilman Markel stated that he did not believe that the lobby of the City <br />Hall was the appropriate place for the portrait of Mr, Thornton; that he <br />did not believe that Mr. Thornton would approve of it being there; and that <br />the l~est place for the portrait was in the office of the City Manager. He <br />als0 stated that he believed that the dedicatory plaque had been placed in <br />a most obscure place in the lobby of the City Hall; that many people visit <br />the City Hall area on Saturday and Sunday and would enjoy seeing the plaque <br />on the exterior of the building; and suggested moving the plaque to the <br />exterior east wall of the building. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />58 <br /> <br />FEBRUARY Z0, 1973 <br /> <br /> <br />
