ORDINANCE NS-1175 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />SALE OF NEWSPAPERS COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA ADDING SECTION <br /> 10-150 TO THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE SALE OF NEWSPAPERS ON THE PUB- <br />LIC RIGHT OF WAY was adopted on motion of Councilman Yamamoto, <br />seconded by Councilman Griset and carried on the following roll <br />call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br /> <br />Yamamoto, Griset, Markel, Garthe, Ward <br />Evans, Patterson <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />(CA 153; CA 74) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 73-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />VA 73-20 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />ANCIENT VALLEY PROPERTIES SANTA ANA OVERRULING THE <br /> DECISION OF THE PLANN%NG <br />COMMISSION AND DENYING VARIANCE APPLICATION NO. 73-20 FILED BY <br />ANCIENT VALLEY PROPERTIES was adopted on motion of Councilman <br />Griset, seconded by Councilman Ward and carried with Councilman <br />Evans dissenting, and Mayor Patterson abstaining. (CA 13) <br /> <br />CONVERSION OF GARAGES A letter from Community <br />SAN SOUCI OWNERS Management Company, <br />ASSOCIATION representing the Board <br /> of Directors of San <br />Souci Owners Association, dated June 19, 1973, requesting <br />inspection and/or investigation of certain garages converted into <br />living quarters in violation of ordinances, was received and <br />filed on the unanimously carried motion of Councilman Markel) <br />seconded by Councilman Griset, and staff was instructed to <br />continue its investigation into the matter. (CA 87; CA 78) <br /> <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT A letter from Donald B. <br />COMMISSION AND RECREATION Christeson, dated June 26, <br />AND PARKS BOARD RESIGNATION 1973, resigning as Chairman <br /> and a member of the Commis- <br />sion, was received and filed with regret on the unanimously <br />approved motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman <br />Yamamoto. The motion also included acceptance of Mr. Christeson's <br />resignation from the Board of Recreation and Parks due to his <br />moving outside the City. (CA 82.1; CA 52.2) <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION A letter from the Planning <br />REFERRAL POLICY Commission dated June 28, <br /> 1973, recommending that <br /> Council refer back to the <br />Planning Commission those matters upon which new evidence is <br />presented, was considered. Council reaffirmed its policy to <br />refer to the Planning Commission the Planning matters on which <br />Council is not required to act, those where the applicant has <br />changed his proposal and those which can legally be referred back, <br />on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman Ward, seconded <br />by Councilman Evans. The City Attorney stated that he would <br />prepare and forward a letter to the Planning Commission explain- <br />ing the policy in more detail.
