SANTA ANA NEWSLETTER Dick Weatherington, <br />ALTERNATE PROPOSAL publisher of the Orange <br /> City News, 126 South <br /> Glassell, Orange, pre- <br />sented to Council the proposal set forth in a letter to Council <br />that the City buy space in the "Central County Gazette" to <br />perform the functions of the present "Santa Aha News". <br />Copies of letters in support of the proposal were submitted <br />to Council by Mr. Weatherington from the following: <br /> <br />Samuel Sandoval, Equal Opportunity Director, HUD <br />Zeke Hernandez, Human Relations Commission <br />A1 Amezcua, Community Development Council <br />T. Silva, West Community Center <br />John Aceves, Delhi Organization <br />Ray Villa, SER <br />John V. Coffield, Our Lady of Guadalupe <br />Rodolfo Montejano, 1212 N. Broadway <br />Leo S. Cordona, Santa Aha Unified School District <br />Rodolfo Jimenez, CAC <br />Richard Hernandez, 1321 W. Myrtle <br />Tony Jimenez, 1728 W. Walnut <br />Ruth Martinez, 1814 W. Third Street <br /> <br />The letters indicated interest in, and support for, Spanish <br />translations, savings for taxpayers, more space, opportunity <br />for input from citizens and organizations, and expanded <br />circulation, as proposed by Mr. Weatherington. <br /> <br />Ray Villa, Project Director, SER, spoke in favor of the objec- <br />tives of the proposal, to get the City's story to the residents. <br />He stated that he would support the proposal, as he had supported <br />the News Story, and that the City needed a Public Information <br />Officer. <br /> <br />Lydia Brancolino spoke in favor of the proposal. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman Evans, <br />and unanimously carried on a 6 - 0 vote, the matter was con- <br />tinued to the August 20~meeting.
